Roy Oswalts a Philadelphia Phillies right handed payer was said to be in great spirits after being hit in the right ear while pitching in a game against Florida’s Tampa Bay Rays. He did tell sources that he had a very small bump on the back of his head but that he was not suffering from any kind of pain or even a slight headache. He is fully expecting to make his next start just fine. He also told sources he slept very well but did feel slightly stiff in the morning. In the 4th inning of the game on Wednesday that took place in Port Charlotte, FL, Oswalt pitched a ball to Manny Ramirez. As soon as the ball was hit it came straight back at him in a line driver that came so fast he was unable to get out of the way.
He was taken to an area hospital where tests were performed and he was deemed in good condition. Oswalt said that all he remembered was lying on the ground wondering what happened. Fans and fellow teammates watched as medics rushed in to see if he was aright. This is the second time in his baseball career that he has been hit by a baseball. In 2007 he was struck by a line drive during a game he was coaching for a minor league game. He does not intend to take any time off as a result of the unfortunate incident and says that he feels lucky there was no real damage done by the injury.
